Continuous determination of ammonia in condensed steam and high-purity boiler feed-water by using a potentiometric ammonia probe

Abstract

The Electronic Instruments Ltd. 8002–6 Ammonia Probe has been investigated for its use in the continuous determination of ammonia in condensed steam and boiler feed-water. The technique is simple and of adequate precision and accuracy for use in the power industry. The standard deviations of single measurements made on 0·1 and 0·44 µg ml^–1 ammonia solutions not more than 12 hours after standardisation were 0·008 and 0·04 µg ml^–1 of ammonia, respectively.
