Photochemistry of α-methylene ketones; competitive β and γ hydrogen abstraction

Abstract

Upon photolysis α-methylene ketones (1), (4), and (7) are isomerized to cyclopropyl ketones (3a), (6), and (8), respectively, as well as to the expected cyclobutyl ketones.
