Two new mould metabolites related to avenaciolide

Abstract

A minor metabolite of Aspergillus avenaceus is shown to be 4-iso-avenaciolide (IIa) and a metabolite of Penicillium sp. ACC 3903 is shown to be (3aS,4R,6aS)-4-ethyl-3a,6a-dihydro-3-methylenefuro[3,4-b]furan-2(3H),6(4H)-dione (IIb), for which the trivial name ethisolide is proposed.
