Isolation of 4,5,4′,5′-tetrachlorobi-1,3-dioxa-2-cyclopentyl from reaction of trans-2,3-dichloro-1,4-dioxan with sulphuric acid

Abstract

The reaction product from the interaction of concentrated sulphuric acid with trans-2,3-dichloro-1,4-dioxan is shown by elemental analysis, mass spectrometric and i.r. measurements to consist of at least two diastereoisomeric forms of 4,5,4′,5′-tetrachlorobi-1,3-dioxa-2-cyclopentyl.
