Solution chemistry in substituted sulphuric acids. Part I. Conductimetric investigations of the ionization of some solutes in methanesulphonic acid
Abstract
Conductimetric investigations in methanesulphonic acid have been carried out. The behaviour of certain solutes which act as strong bases along with a few weak bases and some non-electrolytes has been discussed. Disulphuric acid, fluorosulphuric acid, chlorosulphuric acid, and sulphuric acid behave as acids in methanesulphonic acid and the order of relative acidity is H2S2O7 > HSO3F > HSO3Cl > H2SO4 > H2SeO4.
