Aquation of cis-dichlorobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) in mixed aqueous solvents

Abstract

First-order rate constants for the aquation of cis-dichlorobis(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III), cis-[Co(en)2Cl2]+, in water–methanol, –ethanol, –acetone, –dioxan, –formic acid, and –acetic acid mixtures have been determined. The logarithms of these rate constants correlate linearly with the Grunwald–Winstein solvent Y values.
