Metal carbonyl chemistry. Part XIII. Kinetic studies on the reactions of phenyl- and benzoyl-manganese carbonyl complexes with the ligand 4-ethyl-2,6,7-trioxa-1-phosphabicyclo[2,2,2]octane

Abstract

The kinetics of the reaction of PhMn(CO)5 with the ligand P(OCH2)3CEt have been studied in various solvents, and are found to be independent of ligand concentration in tetrahydrofuran and nitromethane but are dependent on the ligtand concentration in chloroform. The complexes BzMn(CO)5 and cis-BzMn(CO)4P(OCH2)3 CEt have been shown to react with P(OCH2)3 CEt by a mechanism which is independent of ligand concentration in all the solvents investigated.
