Solvent effects on infra-red band shapes and intensities. Part 1.—HCl, DCl, SO2, CS2 and SOCl2

Abstract

The intensities of the fundamental vibration bands of HCl and DCl and of the ν1 and ν3 modes of SO2, ν3CS2 and ν1SOCl2 have been measured in a number of solvents. The results are discussed in relation to Buckingham's theory of solvent effects.
