Structural studies of the carbonylate and carbonyl hydride anions of iron

Abstract

The Mössbauer and i.r. spectra of the mono-, di-, tri-, and tetra-nuclear iron carbonyl anions and carbonyl hydride anions are reported. Structures for the eight ions are suggested, and systematic variations in chemical isomer shift and quadrupole splitting discussed. New interconversions of the ions in aqueous solution are reported.
