An electron spin resonance investigation of X-irradiated DL-methionine

Abstract

Electron spin resonance studies of single crystals of DL-methionine which have been both irradiated and measured at 77°K show the presence of two types of free radical. Upon annealing, one of these radicals decays, while the second shows no change in concentration. A third free-radical species is produced in the annealing process. The structure of these radicals is discussed.
