The association of dimethylformamide molecules in carbon tetrachloride solution
Abstract
Quantitative evidence from n.m.r. spectroscopy is presented which strengthens the assumption that dimethyl-formamide molecules associate as dimers at low concentrations in carbon tetrachloride solution. Values for ΔH° and ΔS° for the dimerization are estimated as well as for δm and δd, the limiting N-methyl-hydrogen chemical shift for monomer and dimer.
