Modification of dithiol tests for the field determination of molybdenum

Abstract

Modifications of currently used dithiol tests for the field determination of molybdenum have been developed. Molybdenum is oxidised and extracted quickly and selectively with sodium hypochlorite at room temperature. The disadvantages of using an alkaline fusion or oxidation with potassium chlorate and hot hydrochloric acid are avoided.
