Reactions of nucleic acids and their components. Part VI. Thermodynamic constants of the ionisations of cytosine and cytidine

Abstract

Ionisation and other thermodynamic constants of cytosine and cytidine have been evaluated at various ionic strengths and temperatures, using spectrophotometry and potentiometry. The formaldehyde reaction was used to allocate the first pk(acid) ionisation to the C6-“amino”-group.
