The solvent-extraction and absorptiometric determination of iron with 2-mercaptopyridine-1-oxide

Abstract

Iron(II) and iron(III) can be completely extracted from M sulphuric acid into a 0·02 M solution of 2-mercaptopyridine-1-oxide and determined absorptiometrically at 550 mµ. The only significant interference is from copper(II); the sensitivity of the method is 0·02 µg cm–2.
