Synthesis of fullerotetrahydropyridazines via the copper-catalyzed heteroannulation of [60]fullerene with hydrazides

Abstract

A series of novel fullerotetrahydropyridazines have been prepared via the reaction of [60]fullerene with hydrazides catalyzed by cheap and readily available Cu(OAc)2·H2O. This protocol features a broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. A possible reaction mechanism for the formation of fullerotetrahydropyridazines is proposed on the basis of the experimental results. The electrochemistry of the obtained products has also been investigated.
