Synthesis, characterization, optical and electrochemical properties and antibacterial activity of novel BODIPY Glyco conjugated dendrimers

Abstract

Triazole branched BODIPY – Glyco conjugated dendrimers are synthesized by click chemistry in good yields via convergent approach. All the glycodendrimers show increase in the fluorescence intensity on increasing the dendrimer generation. The cyclic voltammogram for the dendrimers 1, 2 and 3 shows quasi-reversible behaviour. All the boron-dipyrrolomethene (BODIPY) dendrimers show antibacterial activity against both gram positive and gram negative bacteria viz., S. aureus, B. Subtilis, S. typhimurium and E. Coli respectively and the dendrimer 3 shows better antibacterial activity than all other synthesized dendrimers.
