N-Aryltrifluoromethanesulfonimides as new trifluoromethylating agents for the (photo)catalyst-free functionalization of (hetero)aromatics

Abstract

The photoinduced (by UV or sunlight) catalyst-free radical trifluoromethylation of (hetero)aromatics (up to 87% yield) has been successfully achieved by using N-aryltrifluoromethanesulfonimides as the trifluoromethylating agents. The process likewise occurred under continuous flow conditions.
