The energetic 3-trinitromethyl-5-nitramino-1H-1,2,4-triazole and nitrogen-rich salts

Abstract

The synthesis of 3-trinitromethyl-5-nitramino-1H-1,2,4-triazole (1) is described. This triazole is a powerful energetic compound due to its high nitrogen- and oxygen-content. Selected nitrogen-rich salts were also prepared in order to tune the performance and sensitivity values. The compounds are characterised by vibrational and NMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The structure of 1 was determined by X-ray diffraction. The sensitivities were measured according to BAM standards and energetic performances calculated by EXPLO5 6.03.
