Preparation of visible-light-driven BiOBr composites with encapsulated heteropolyacids (H3PW12O40) by zeolite for the photo-degradation of methyl orange

Abstract

BiOBr composites with encapsulated heteropolytungtic acid (H3PW12O40, PTA) and zeolite by impregnation method were synthesized. The samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FT-IR), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra, N2 physisorption, and the photocatalytic activity was investigated by photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange, whose results indicate that immobilized phosphotungstic acid with zeolite (SBA-15)-modified BiOBr composites exhibited exellent photocatalytic property.
