Enhanced photoelectrochemical activity of nanostructured ZnFe2O4 thin films prepared by the electrospray technique

Abstract

Nanostructured spinel zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) thin films were prepared, using the electrospray technique, as photoabsorber material for photoelectrochemical water splitting. An enhanced photocurrent of 53 μA cm−2 at 1.23 V versus RHE was achieved, which is among the best results obtained for unmodified ZnFe2O4 photoanodes.
