A Stretchable Polysiloxane Elastomer with Self-Healing Capacity at Room Temperature and Solvatochromic Properties

Abstract

A stretchable silicon elastomer by incorporating Cobalt ions in pyridine pendant polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was prepared. Different from previous Cobalt-coordinated elastomers, such elastomers are self-healable at room-temperature with a high healing efficiency of over 90 %. Besides, they exhibit tailored solvatochromic property in wide range without sacrificing the ability of room-temperature self-healing.
