Coordination effect assisted synthesis of ultrathin Pt layers on second metal nanocrystals as efficient oxygen reduction electrocatalysts

Abstract

This communication reports a remarkably simple method for the deposition of ultrathin Pt layers on second metal nanocrystals based on the fine control of the deposition rate by the coordination effect. Compared with commercial Pt/C catalysts, the as-prepared ultrathin Pt layers exhibit significantly enhanced catalytic properties toward the oxygen reduction reaction.
