A novel MOF showing a ring-like planar Zn6 cluster and the coexistence of a single, double, and triple wall

Abstract

Herein, we report a novel metal–organic framework, Zn6(L)3(4,4′-bpy)3(H2O)4·4DMF (1), which was synthesized using Zn(NO3)2·6H2O, 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) and 5,5′-(diazene-1,2-diyl)bis(2-hydroxybenzoic) acid (H4L). Single crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that the backbone of 1 is highly interesting due to the exceptional coexistence of single, double, triple walls. Furthermore, in 1 a rare ring-like planar Zn6 cluster is observed.
