Excimer and exciplex emissions of 1,8-naphthalimides caused by aggregation in extremely polar or nonpolar solvents

Abstract

1,8-Naphthalimides (NI) aggregate in both extremely polar and nonpolar solvents. The aggregation induced emission of NIs is attributed to the intermolecular excimer and/or the intramolecular exciplex formation.
