Ultrafast energy transfer in a Pd(ii)-bridged bisporphyrin dyad

Abstract

A free base porphyrin/zinc(II)porphyrin dyad bridged by a Pd(II) unit exhibits an ultrafast S1 energy transfer (1.5 × 1012 s−1) due to significant MO couplings between the acceptor and the donor and a non-nil atomic contribution of the Pd-atom in the frontier MOs, hence ensuring π-conjugation.
