Supramolecular lattices built from di- and tri-tetrazoles: the structures of 1,3,5-tritetrazol-5-ylbenzene bis-dioxane monohydrate and ditetrazol-5-ylmethane

Abstract

Two novel supramolecular frameworks based on poly-tetrazoles [C6H3(CN4H)3-1,3,5·2(C4H8O2-1,4)·H2O (1) and CH2(CN4H)2 (2)], which are isosteres of the commonly exploited trimesic and malonic acid synthons, are reported. Both develop supramolecular arrays based on N–H⋯N and N–H⋯O hydrogen bonds in which N1⋯N4 combinations lead to planar arrays while N1⋯N3 interactions lead to less regular (non-planar) sheet structures.
