Enhanced catalytic activity of MCM-41-grafted aluminium isopropoxide in MPV reductions

Abstract

Aluminium alkoxide moieties are grafted onto purely siliceous mesoporous MCM-41 via siloxide linkages, producing materials which reveal enhanced catalytic activity in the MPV reduction of cyclic ketones; nitrogen physisorption and 27Al MAS NMR spectroscopy are applied to characterise the catalytically active hybrid systems.
