Defects and holes in the mercury-based oxide superconductors: relevance to high Tc behaviour

Abstract

Calculations on the mercury-based oxide superconductors using computer simulation techniques predict that oxidation to create the holes necessary for superconductivity is highly favourable; our results are relevant to high Tc behaviour and accord well with the available experimental data.
