Photolabilisation of phosphine ligands bound to iron: photofragmentation voltammetry analysis

Abstract

Photofragmentation volammetry is used to demonstrate directly the primary loss of P(Ar)3 from [(η5C5H5) Fe(CO)(PAr3)[double bond, length half m-dash]C(NHMe)Me]+BF4(Ar = phenyl 1 and p-tolyl 2) on irradiation with visible light. In contrast, no loss of carbon monoxide is observed.
