Selective bromination of alkenes using bromine and zeolite molecular sieves

Abstract

Control by means of a pentasil zeolite allows selective bromination of a linear alkene in the presence of a branched or cyclic alkene, or of a branched/cyclic alkene in the presence of a linear alkene simply by variation of the order of addition of the reactants.
