Conversion of WVIOS32– into [WV2O2(µ-S)2(S2)2]2– and vice-versa by internal redox processes induced by I2 and Sx2–

Abstract

Reaction of [NH4]2[WVIOS3](1) with elemental iodine in aqueous solution leads to [WV2O2(µ-S)2(S2)2]2–, isolable as the [NEt4]+ salt (2) which is converted back into (1) by Sx2–, via induced electron-transfer processes.
