The structures of the carbenoid CH2FLi: ab initio MO calculations

Abstract

The model carbenoid, CH2FLi, is indicated by ab initio molecular orbital calculations to have a peculiar umbrella shaped (‘inverted carbon’) structure and CH2Li+ F ion pair character; metallocarbenium ions may thus be the reactive species in carbenoid reactions.
