Pulsed nitrogen laser study of the dynamical behaviour of exciplexes

Abstract

Decay curves of aromatic hydrocarbon-substituted dimethylaniline exciplexes obtained with pulsed nitrogen laser excitation have been studied in detail. The life time of exciplexes varies with the reduction potential of the aromatics as well as the ionization energy of the dimethylaniline. The rate of exciplex decay varies with the polarity of the solvent.
