Spectroscopic studies of ion solvation

Abstract

Solvation of group IA and IIA cations as well as protons by molecules with chromophoric groups has been investigated by electronic spectroscopy. Vibration spectra characteristic of solvation shells of cations are discussed. The nature of information obtained on ion-pairs from electronic and vibrational spectra is briefly indicated.
