Effect of structure on the heats of formation of solid solutions of CsCl with other alkali halides

Abstract

Heats of mixing of solid solutions of CsCl with CsBr, KCl and RbCl have been obtained by precise measurements of heats of solution in water. The results show evidence for the stabilization of the NaCl (Fm3m) structure in the Cs1–xKxCl and Cs1–xRbxCl systems at a specific value of x. The experimental results are compared with results from ionic lattice calculations.
