Novel formation of 5-aminocinnolines from 5-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrocinnolines–abnormal course of Schmidt and Beckmann rearrangements

Abstract

5-Oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrocinnolines upon treatment with sodium azide and sulphuric acid afford 5-aminocinnolines which are also obtained from the respective 5-oximino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrocinnolines.
