Although phenoxythiocarbonyl chloride, potassium cyanide, and isoquinoline gave a normal Reissert compound analogue, (p-chlorophenylthio)thiocarbonyl chloride, with potassium cyanide and isoquinoline, gave rise to 2-(p-chlorophenylthio)thiocarbonyl-1,2-dihydro-1-hydroxyisoquinoline, which did not contain a cyano-group.
