Steroid hormones. Part XVI. Some organometallic and 3-deoxysteroids

Abstract

Some derivatives of steroids having the 3-methoxy-2,5(10)-diene structure in ring-A reacted with chromium, molybdenum, or tungsten carbonyls, to give the metal tricarbonyl adducts of the ring-A-aromatic 3-deoxy-steroids. The adducts can be decomposed to give the parent compounds. Oestrone methyl ether gives crystalline chromium tricarbonyl and molybdenum tricarbonyl adducts.
