Solvent inkjet printing process for the fabrication of polymer solar cells

Abstract

Inkjet printing is an attractive patterning technology due to the mildness, simplicity, low-cost and large-scale production, which has become increasingly accepted for a variety of industrial and scientific applications. Despite its short history, inkjet printing has exhibited great potential applications in active layer, counter electrodes and hole transporting layers of polymer solar cells. This astonishing achievement is the subject of this article, which reviews the developments in inkjet printed active layer, counter electrodes and hole transporting layers of polymer solar cells in the last five years. Polymer solar cells evolve in an exponential manner in the key areas of power conversion efficiency. In this review, we summarized briefly the effect of inkjet printing condition on efficiency and also prospected the development trend of inkjet printed polymer solar cells in the future.
