Abstract

Reaction of 1,3-dimethyl ether p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene (H2L) with sodium hydride in tetrahydrofuran affords the dimeric metallocalixarene species [Na2L]2 which possesses a novel structure in which the Na+ ions are coordinated in two very different environments.
