Reaction of mixtures of carbon monoxide and nitrogen with rhenium

Abstract

The pre-adsorption of nitrogen by a rhenium filament at any temperature between 300 and 830°K reduces the subsequent uptake of carbon monoxide. Each nitrogen molecule occupies two sites which are capable of adsorbing carbon monoxide. The replacement of some carbon monoxide by nitrogen occurs at 860°K and again one nitrogen molecule replaces two carbon monoxide molecules.
