Hydrogen generation performance of novel Al–LiH–metal oxides

Abstract

A series of novel hydrogen production materials, Al–LiH–metal oxide composites, have been prepared via high energy ball milling. The effects of different oxides on the hydrolysis properties of Al–LiH composites for H2 generation are studied, in which Ga2O3 shows the best activation capability among the added oxides such as Ga2O3 Bi2O3, In2O3, TiO2, ITO, and γ-Al2O3. Experimental results indicate that the Al–LiH–Ga2O3 composite shows excellent properties for hydrogen production with a related conversion efficiency and maximum hydrogen generation rate (mHG rate) of 98.6% and 3837 mL g−1 min−1 at 298.15 K, respectively. Meanwhile, the activation mechanism of Ga2O3 and LiH is investigated by SEM, XRD and so on.
