Total synthesis of the Securinega alkaloids

Abstract

Covering: 1966 to the beginning of 2009

The Securinega alkaloids are a small family of plant metabolites with fascinating bridged tetracyclic structures and significant biological activity. These compounds have drawn increasing interest from synthetic chemists, resulting in a number of innovative total syntheses. This review describes the various synthetic approaches to members of the Securinega family of alkaloids published over the last four decades.
