Ultrasound-assisted synthesis of ordered mesoporous silica FDU-12 with a hollow structure

Abstract

An ordered three-dimensional cubic mesoporous structure with uniform particle sizes (3.5–5 μm) and a thick shell was achieved by a sonochemical method. The reaction time of TEOS during the coassembly process could be shortened from 24 h to 8 h compared with the conventional synthesis route. The mechanism for the formation of the hollow silica was proposed.
