Sonochemistry – an innovative opportunity towards a one-pot three-component synthesis of novel pyridylpiperazine derivatives catalysed by meglumine in water†
Abstract
An unprecedented and expeditious synthetic strategy for rapid access to a diversity-oriented library of novel functionalized pyridyl piperazine derivatives has been developed, via a meglumine-catalyzed one-pot three-component condensation reaction of substituted 2-hydroxy-aryl-1-carboxaldehydes, 1-(pyridin-4-yl)piperazine and varied substituted aryl boronic acids in aqueous medium assisted by ultrasound. The prominent features of our protocol are low catalyst loading (10 mol%), less reaction time (30 min), no dependency on specialized purification (column chromatography) techniques, and high isolated yield with excellent green chemistry metrics (E-factor: 0.1454, mass intensity: 1.1907, PMI: 1.1454 and Emw: 0.1445).
