A three-dimensional Nd(iii)-based metal–organic framework as a smart drug carrier

Abstract

A 3D lanthanide metal–organic framework (MOF) with the formula [Nd2(abtc)1.5(H2O)3(DMA)]·H2O·DMA (1) [H4abtc = 3,3′,5,5′-azobenzenetetracarboxylic acid; DMA = N,N-dimethylacetamide] has been synthesized under solvothermal conditions and characterized. The efficient encapsulation and controllable release of an anticancer drug (5-Fu) make it a promising drug delivery host. The in vitro cytotoxicity of 1 and 5-Fu loaded 1a were also evaluated using MTT assays against HeLa cells.
