Scrapheap challenge and the single cell

Abstract

The prevailing approach to cellular molecular analyte investigations employs lysis. Using analogies with automobiles, we explain how current practise ridicules cellular individuality and meaningful variation. Single cell analysis and micro total analysis system (µTAS) prospects are discussed.
