The first organic paramagnetic metal containing the aminoxyl radical

Abstract

We have prepared an organic magnetic anion, PROXYL-4-CONHCH2SO3 (1). The electrocrystallisation of BEDT-TTF with PPh41 gave the first purely organic paramagnetic metal, β″-(BEDT-TTF)2(1). The salt shows a broad metal–insulator transition at approximately 210 K.
