New approaches to the synthesis of macroporous metals

Abstract

Porous metals are useful as catalysts, biosensors, and as porous electrodes. We review here three new chemical methods for the preparation of macroporous gold. The article focuses on our new approach, which uses emulsion-templated polymers as scaffolds for the production of macroporous metals or other materials from nanoparticulate building blocks.
