The structure of the triterpene simiarenol (a E:B-friedo-hop-5-ene) from the Hong Kong species of Rhododendron simiarum

Abstract

The triterpene, simiarenol, has been identified as 3β-hydroxy-E:B-friedo-hop-5-ene. The structures of some acid-catalysed isomerisation products of simiarenol and its derivatives have been elucidated.
